Donald Trump’s Twitter account, @realdonaldtrump was deactivated for 11 minutes on November 3 by a Twitter employee. The social networking service posted a Tweet citing that a human error was the reason for deactivation. Twitter later revealed in a post that the account was deactivated by a Twitter employee who was on the last day of their job and that they are investigating the event.
The second Twitter post said, “Through our investigation we have learned that this was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee’s last day. We are conducting a full internal review.” It is being speculated that this was done deliberately by the leaving employee.

In a statement to Buzzfeed, a former senior Twitter employee said that many employees can suspend a user’s account, however, only a few hundred have the right to deactivate one. Also, the company had discussed placing extra measures on verified or high-profile accounts, but they were never implemented. Trump had made threats to North Korea back in September and ever since then, his account has been asked to be suspended time and again. While many users said that Trump’s tweets violate the terms of service and should be deactivated, Twitter has refused to so and said, “We hold all accounts to the same Rules, and consider a number of factors when assessing whether Tweets violate our Rules 2/6.”
Twitter had recently banned advertising from all accounts owned by Russia Today and Sputnik. The ban comes a week ahead of Twitter testifying before a US House Committee regarding its role in the supposed Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential polls. You can read more about this here.
