All of us are highly dependent on the internet these days, and so are scammers. These days online scams are growing and they are making random calls to steal all of our money. You might agree with me when I say that the calls are getting more frequent by the day. Keeping that in mind, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has introduced a new portal called Chakshu. What does it do, and how does it help users? Let’s find out.
As I mentioned earlier, scammers are frequently making scam calls these days. They often claim to be legit, like calling from your bank, etc. This portal, “Chakshu”, allows users to report fraudulent phone numbers.
Using the Chakshu portal is pretty easy, users just have to follow these easy steps.

How does Chakshu work?
Once a user reports the number, TRAI then investigates the said number. If it finds out that it is involved in fraudulent activities, then it revokes its service. Post that, legal actions are also taken.
You can report a fraud call, SMS, and even a WhatsApp message on Chakshu. You can even add categories such as fraud communications, such as KYC (Know Your Customer), impersonation, fake customer care helplines, online job scams, sextortion, malicious links or websites, and more. Users can also attach images or screenshots as evidence, but it is not necessary.
Users have to give their personal details to file a complaint, including their name and phone number, and then they have to further verify their phone number using an OTP.
During the launch, Union Telecom and IT Minister Mr. Ashwini Vaishnav said, “Chakshu will allow Indian citizens to report fraudulent communication received on call or SMS or social media like WhatsApp. Once such information is received, the platform will trigger re-verification, and failing re-verification the number will be disconnected.”
However, one should note that Chakshu is not available to users just yet.
