Good news for Apple enthusiasts. Apple’s new iPad tablet is now available in India via online shopping site Tradus. The online retailer is selling the 16GB Wi-Fi variant of the new iPad for Rs. 36,799 after a discount of Rs. 3,191. The new iPad was launched in the U.S with price starting at $ 499 (approximately Rs. 25,000).
Tradus on its site points out that the shipping of the device will be at least weeks later – “This is an mported Product. It will be shipped in 15 working days from the date of purchase.” Another notable thing is that the online retailer has listed Rs. 39, 990 as the original price of the new iPad, though Apple has not officially announced India pricing of the device yet.
The new iPad features the much talked about Retina Display and improved hardware than its predecessors. Apple has reportedly sold more than three million units of the device across 11 countries within first three days of launch. To refresh your memory, the new iPad sports a 9.7-inch touchscreen Retina Display supporting higher resolution 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution. This tablet houses Apple A5X mobile processor and features a better 5 megapixel camera at the back for recording full HD video.
With Apple’s policy of keeping the new iPad prices for Wi-Fi models same as the iPad 2, the new iPad should be available for Rs. 29,999. Apple has already reduced the price of the iPad 2 (16GB Wi-Fi variant) in India from Rs. 29,999 to Rs. 24,500.
With this, Apple has extended its iPad offering in India to a wider audience, who might see great value in buying the iPad 2 for Rs 24,500. E-bay India is selling the same at a further discounted rate, you can buy the 16GB Wi-Fi version for Rs. 23,000.
