Top Google searches in India in 2024: Google has finally made public the list of the most popular events and trends that people searched for in 2024. The list includes sports, movies, politics and so much more. Interestingly, the Indian Premier League (IPL) was the top search made this year.
Because of the Lok Sabha elections, politics was among the top searches for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), and Election Results 2024. The people also searched about Ratan Tata, Olympics, heat and much more.

“We celebrated our athletes (Vinesh Phogat to Hardik Pandya) while remembering the late Ratan Tata. We dreamt about the wanderlust favorite this year, Azerbaijan, and explored new themes, be it with relationships (Orange Peel Theory, Throning Dating) or workplace behaviors (Gen Z boss work memes). We also relied on Google for all sorts of practical help, from information about “how to vote” to checking on “AQI near me”, and to satisfy our curiosity about the world, such as the meaning of “All Eyes on Rafah,” the search engine giant stated in a blog post.
As per Google, the users made more searches specifically on entertainment. Speaking of the movies, Stree 2, Kalki, 12th Fail, Laapataa Ladies and Hanu-man saw a lot of searches. In terms of TV shows, Heeramandi, Mirzapur, Panchayat and Kota Factory was among the most searched list. Users also loved songs like Nadaaniyan, Husn, Ye Tune Kya Kiya and Yeh Raaten Yeh Mausam.
