Apple’s recent shift to the Indian market has given it great results and as per company CEO Tim Cook, it remains bullish about it with bigger plans for future. Speaking at company’s latest earnings calls, Cook said that Apple is witnessing great demand for its products and services across in India and wants to improve its modest market share in the country along with other emerging markets. “We have great results in a number of emerging markets, and as you know from past calls, particularly keen on India. India set a December-quarter record during the quarter,” Cook said.
He also revealed that iPhone was the top-selling phone in India for the country and with Apple intelligence rolling out in April, the company would be expecting better sales going forward.
“The iPhone was the top selling model in India for the quarter, and it’s the second largest smartphone market in the world and the third largest for PCs and tablets, and so there’s a huge market, and we have very modest share in these markets, and so I think there’s lots of upside there, and that’s just one of the emerging markets,” Cook said.

A large part of Apple’s India expansion plans are its four new offline stores, announced in the last quarter. Apple has been quite serious about its offline presence in India lately. In April 2023, it strengthened its footprint in the country by opening its first two retail stores in Mumbai and Delhi. This will be backed by another four stores planned across Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai.
The company has also launched the Apple Store app recently which is now available for download from the App Store. It allows customers across India to shop directly with Apple, access personalised recommendations, and enjoy a streamlined, tailored shopping experience.
The company has seen strong demand for its products across various industries. Cook mentioned that Zomato, a leading food delivery platform in India, has adopted thousands of Macs for its workforce to foster innovation.

Other India-specific efforts include manufacturing of phones within the country. While the efforts had begun a few years ago, it was for the first time this year that Apple started making the Pro models in India at the same time as other countries.
Meanwhile, Apple has reported strong financial results for its first quarter of fiscal 2025, ending December 28, 2024. The company posted quarterly revenue of $124.3 billion, marking a 4 percent increase year over year. This surge was primarily fueled by Apple’s high-margin services division, which included the App Store, AppleCare, and Apple Music.
On the financial front, Apple CFO Kevan Parekh emphasised the company’s solid growth. “Our record revenue and strong operating margins drove EPS to a new all-time record with double-digit growth and allowed us to return over $30 billion to shareholders,” he said.
