The AI Chip War: Intel Lunar lake vs AMD Ryzen 300 vs Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite
The AMD Ryzen AI 300 includes Zen 5 CPU cores and RDNA 3.5 graphics.
The Intel Lunar Lake, on the other hand, is based on the traditional INT 8 data type.
And finally, the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite has a Hexagon NPU and scored 45 TOPS.
With AI being the trend of the year, the demand for it is also growing in all spheres. Silicon makers are trying to keep up with the demand by offering them chipsets to sustain their needs. We have three new AI chips: the AMD Ryzen AI 300, Intel Lunar Lake, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite. All of these three chipsets are built to cater to the AI needs. I feel that this is the perfect time to take a look into AI chip battle. Let’s start.
Best AI chip? AMD vs Intel vs Qualcomm
Coming straight to the point, the AMD Ryzen AI 300 series includes Zen 5 CPU cores and RDNA 3.5 graphics. It offers an impressive 50 TOPS from their XDNA 2 Neural Processing Unit (NPU). Hence, this chipset is pretty great for AI demands and will also support the upcoming Copilot+ features in Windows 11.
The Intel Lunar Lake, on the other hand, is based on the traditional INT 8 data type. It has 3X the number of tiles or neural compute engines compared to Intel’s previous Meteor Lake NPU. It delivers 48 TOPS. This means that it sits back when compared to the AMD Ryzen AI 300. It can be easily used in situations like in AI neural networks, such as those used in Large Language Models like ChatGPT.
And finally, the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite. It has a Hexagon NPU and scored 45 TOPS. It is more suited for jobs such as AI computing, including AI assistants and document management.
