Last Saturday, the Telegram founder and CEO was arrested in France. The French authorities allegedly arrested Pavel Durov because he failed to implement strict rules on Telegram. This promoted illegal activities on the platform. Other charges also include the fact that he was not cooperative with the authorities. He is being investigated by the French authorities for the above-mentioned crimes and more. But now, there’s another angle that is being investigated. If reports are to be believed, he is also being investigated for “serious acts of violence” against his seven-year-old son.

What is the investigation on Pavel Durov about?

Durov’s son was born in 2017 and is seven years old now. He is currently living in Switzerland. If Durov is found guilty, serious legal charges will be pressed against him. A judge will then decide if they need to restrict his movements or require him to post a bond.

Apart from that, the update on the Durov arrest is that he was detained for four days and was then released. He was heavily questioned by the French authorities. Currently, he is being investigated for around 12 alleged criminal violations.

A statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office read, “An investigating judge has ended Pavel Durov’s police custody and will have him brought to court for a first appearance and a possible indictment”.

As per reports, he is being brought in front of an investigative judge at the Paris judicial court in the north of the capital, as per a justice ministry officer.

The judge will further question the Telegram CEO before deciding if they will press charges against him or let him go free by naming him as a material witness in the case.

Let’s see how this case turns around in the coming days. Stay tuned for more updates.
