After WhatsApp, Google is now adding third-party Gemini Extention support for Spotify.

To use the Gemini extension, users must link their Spotify and Google accounts.

After WhatsApp, Google is now adding third-party Gemini Extention support for Spotify, a popular music streaming app. First discovered in Google’s code in June, the new extension is reportedly rolling out to select Android devices and will allow users to search and play music using its AI assistant.

Google has recently announced that more than five extensions will be released in the coming weeks. However, some users continue to wait for WhatsApp, Phone, Messages, and Utilities support.

Coming back to the Gemini extension, it can help the users play music via song titles, artist names, album names, playlist names, or for a particular activity. According to the report by The Verge, the new extension will not allow users to create playlists or radio stations on Spotify.

It’s worth noting that if you’ve already paired another music service, such as YouTube Music, you must specify which service you want the Gemini to use as part of your initial request. Following that, the service used will be set as the default.

To use the Gemini extension, users must link their Spotify and Google accounts. Users must also enable Gemini Apps Activity, which allows them to store AI queries for up to 72 hours. It should be noted that the extension cannot be used within Google Messages, the Gemini web app, or the Gemini app on iOS.

After you enable the extension, you will be able to play, search, or browse music on Spotify using the commands such as  ‘Play Music’, ‘Play (album) on Spotify’, ‘Play [song name] by [artist name] on Spotify’ and so on.

Previously, Google introduced WhatsApp as its first non-Google Gemini extension in October, and now Spotify is the second application to get the extension support.
