Sony reveals 13.3-inch flexible e-ink writing tablet
Sony might launch a massive 13.3 inch writing tablet by the end of fiscal year 2013
Sony revealed a flexible e-paper screen in September 2010 that they had been working on, saying they had no plans on launching it in the market. However, things seem to be different as Sony is now boasting of a 13.3 writing slate tested in Japan.
It appears that the device will have a flexible screen bearing in mind the fact that flexibility is important in an e-ink writing tablet so as to survive much longer. The device currently is just an idea that Sony plans to test this year.
The screen would feature a 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution. It would come with 4GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot, integrated Wi-Fi, and battery life that could last up to three weeks.
The tablet can be used with a pen that comes as a part of the accessory. The only drawback of the tablet is that it supports only one file format, which is PDF. It has no support for Word, Excel, PowerPoint or any other file type which limits its usage.
Sony reveals that it will be testing this device at several universities later this year. Sony strives to launch this device by the end of its fiscal 2013.
