Global price hikes hint at potential future increases in India.

Sony India has officially introduced the PlayStation 5 Summer Sale for gaming enthusiasts giving them a limited-time chance to grab the PS5 console at discounted prices. As a part of the offer, the company is offering select PS5 models — CFI-2008A and CFI-2008B with a flat discount of Rs 5,000.

The sale will start on April 17, 2025, and will run until May 14, or while stocks last, whichever comes first. Interested buyers can get discounted prices across major retail platforms including Amazon, Blinkit, Croma, Flipkart, Reliance Digital, Sony Center, Vijay Sales, and other retail channel partners.

It is worth noting that the interested customers must avail of the discount within the specified timeframe, given the limited duration and potential stock constraints, or else they may loose the opportunity to claim a Rs 5,000 discount.

Meanwhile, Sony has announced PlayStation 5 Digital Edition price hikes in select international markets including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. The company seems to be adjusting its global pricing strategy due to economic pressures. In a blog post, the company stated that the high inflation and volatile currency exchange rates are the primary reasons behind the price revision.

For instance, the PS5 Digital Edition now costs €499.99 in Europe (up from €449.99) and £429.99 in the UK (up from £389.99). The Standard Edition prices remain the same in most regions.

Interestingly, the company has reduced the price of the detachable Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive across these markets. As of now, India seems to be spared from these price hikes but the industry experts believe that some similar changes could follow in the coming months. This makes the current Summer Sale an ideal time for Indian consumers to buy the console at existing prices.
