The new tool is called Google Apps Migration for Microsoft Exchange, and will work with Microsoft Exchange 2003 and 2007, for “both on-premise and hosted Exchange”. According to the Google Enterprise Official Blog, this tool will be available free of charge to customers of Google Apps Premier and Education Edition customers, who can download the tool here. The tool is capable of migrating 200 users per hour.
The new tool helps Google further encroach on Microsoft’s near complete market dominance in office productivity software. In a related article, Google has announced that it has over 25 million users of its Google Apps cloud computing solutions, which might seem like a lot, but is just a small fraction of Microsoft’s user base.
