Samsung is reportedly developing XR Smart Glasses to take on Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses: What we know

It’s not a secret that Samsung has been making heavy investments in developing new XR gears. The company has already teased its XR headset Project Moohan and is now reportedly working on new XR smart glasses. According to the ETNews report, these Samsung smart glasses will be compact and lighter compared to the conventional XR headsets and most likely be powered by Galaxy AI.

The report added that the glasses are expected to display information on the lenses and transmit sound via frame, much like Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses. The upcoming device may weigh around 50 grams and may get multiple cameras on the frame. The device may also support gestures, and facial recognition and also allow contactless payments.

As for specifications, Samsung may offer a Qualcomm chipset, a 12MP Sony camera sensor, and a 155mAh battery. The report further mentioned that Samsung is focusing on comfort and usability by reportedly offering lightweight and practical designs for daily wear.

The company has also reportedly trademarked the smart glasses technology in the UK, hinting towards some big plans with the XR market. However, we do not have any official launch date at the time of writing this article, the glasses are expected to launch later this year and will compete with the Meta and Apple’s XR devices.

Meanwhile, the company showcased Project Moohan at the Mobile World Congress 2025. The headset, which was first teased at Galaxy Unpacked 2025, will be powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2. The company also showcased the much anticipated Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, its slimmest smartphone yet. However, the exact launch date of the smartphone also remains under wraps.
