Samsung Galaxy View details leaked in online listing
HIGHLIGHTS

The Samsung Galaxy View has an 18.4-inch display with a 1080p resolution, and is powered by the 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7580 SoC and 2GB of RAM

Specifications of Samsung’s upcoming tablet, the Galaxy View, has leaked online through a listing on Adorama.com. As of writing this article, the listing has been removed. Its specifications showed an 18.4-inch display with 1080p resolution, which leads to screen pixel density of 120ppi which is very low, considering the pixel density on offer by other competing tablets.

Moving on to other specifications of the Samsung Galaxy View, it will possibly be powered by the 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7580 SoC, coupled with 2GB of RAM. The tablet has 32GB of built-in storage, expandable by an additional 128GB, via microSD card. The front of the Galaxy View has a 2.1MP camera for video calls, and it is as yet unclear if the device has a rear facing camera. The Galaxy View sports a 5700mAh battery, which the listing claims will play 8.5 hours of continuous video. In addition to Wi-Fi, the device also supports 3G and 4G connectivity options, but there is no confirmation on its calling capabilities. There is also no official information about its price or availability, but Adorama had listed the device for $599 (Rs. 38,900 approx.).

In a recent uphaul of tablets in the market, Apple recently unveiled the iPad Pro, Google came up with the Pixel C, and Microsoft announced the Surface Pro 4 along with the Surface Book laptop. All of these three giants seem to be aiming to cash in on the tablet-hybrid market, which still seems to hold some promise with the recent innovation happening around large-screen, multi-functional devices.

To put things into perspective, while the Samsung Galaxy View has an 18.4-inch display, the iPad Pro has a 12.9-inch display, the Pixel C has a 10.2-inch display, and the Surface Pro 4 has a 12.3-inch display. The Surface Book, on the other hand, has a 13.5-inch display. With the largest, and somewhat unweildy display among these, it is clear that the Samsung Galaxy View is looking at an audience that wants a larger display with a compromise of device dimensions. There is also no information about keyboard docking stations for the Galaxy View.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 had housed a stylus, like Samsung’s Note series phablets. Will there be a stylus attached to the Galaxy View to team up with the large display? We will have to wait for the official announcement, to find out. Samsung re-invented the stylus with the Note 5, which we've seen is a great phablet to own.

Like we mentioned, there is no official information available about the Galaxy View, but if there’s one thing that experience has taught us, it is that once leaks and rumours start, the official announcement is never too far away!
