Android 7.0 Nougat update for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge has been delayed to review the firmware. Samsung has not revealed when the update will be officially rolled out

Samsung has delayed the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. Samsung's UK subsidiary tweeted that the Nougat update for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge has been delayed to review the quality of firmware.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are Samsung's 2015 flagships and the delay in software update is a reminder to Android's fragmentation problem. Samsung UK has not offered any timeline for the update, but merely says it will be available at the earliest opportunity. With that tweet, Samsung has at least confirmed that the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are still confirmed to get Android 7.0 update.

Android 7.0 Nougat, the latest version of Android was officially launched by Google in August, 2016. According to Android Dashboard, the operating system is running on just over 2.8 percent of devices. It is worth noting that most Android flagships are yet to receive the update.

Samsung recently started updating its 2016 flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones with Android 7.0 Nougat. The update is currently rolling out in a staged manner, across different regions. While Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge's delayed update shows how painful Android updates can get, owners of these devices need to be patient for now.
