Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) and A7 (2016) have started receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update in India
Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016) have reportedly started receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update in India. The handsets are the first non-flagship Galaxy smartphones to get the Nougat update. According to a report by Sammobile, the update weighs in at 970MB for the Galaxy A7 (2016) and is being gradually rolled out to Indian users.
The update was first rolled out in Russia and recently the Nougat version was also spotted for the Galaxy A5 (2017). Users need to have at least 1GB of free space to download and install the update on their device. While the update is being rolled out in the form of an OTA update, there is also an option to manually check for updates by clicking on Settings >> About Phone >> Software Update.
Android 7.0 Nougat update for Galaxy A (2016) series brings new features like split-screen multitasking, improved Google keyboard, enhanced notifications and a more customisable settings menu. The update also streamlines the user interface with support for 'Double Tap' on the recent button to switch between two most recent apps.
Android Nougat also brings 'Doze on the go' which enhances the battery saving feature of the device. Google recently confirmed that Android 7.0 Nougat has reached 7.1 percent market share. WIth older devices getting the update, it is possible that this will reach double digit figures by next month.
