After a plethora of devices that it has to offer, Samsung is gearing up to add another product to its wearable lineup. If reports are to be believed, Samsung can soon unveil its own smart glasses. These can be on the lines of the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. As per rumours, Samsung can give us a hint at these glasses at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event which is expected to take place in January 2025.
The first teaser can happen along with the Galaxy S25 series, but post that it can finally hit the market by the third quarter of 2025. These glasses will be different from traditional augmented reality (AR) devices and won’t feature integrated displays. As I mentioned earlier, the glasses can resemble the lightweight design of Ray Ban Meta smart glasses. These glasses can offer advanced functionality through artificial intelligence (AI), gesture, and face recognition, and might even have a payment feature.
In addition to this, Samsung has confirmed that it is currently working on the development of a new extended reality (XR) platform, which is expected to power these smart glasses and other XR devices. We can expect enhanced user interaction with it.
Last year, at its Galaxy Unpacked event 2023, Samsung hinted at its foray into XR. For this, it collaborated with Google and Qualcomm for hardware and software innovations. Let’s see how South Korean tech integrates AI and AR in its smart glasses and competes with the likes of Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses.
Apart from this, we don’t know a lot about the device. Let’s see what Samsung has in store and when it officially announces the device. If the device will make it to India is another thing that we will have to see.
