Samsung has announced that it is rolling out Android Marshmallow v6.0 update for the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge from today. The company has stated that it will make separate announcements on the details of the OS updates schedule for each market according to market situation and carriers’ requirements. The company says that the update will provide new edge screen features and will also make it faster and more convenient than ever.
According to Samsung’s post on its official blog, the company says that the update will allow users to widen the edge panel from 260 pixels to 550 pixels, which will enable more content to be displayed. It will also show contact names below the user photographs whereas earlier, it only showed a small photo icon. In addition, the Apps edge panel will let users add ten apps instead of five and users can also add folders instead of apps. Other updates include a Tasks edge panel, quick tools panel, and more.
The update would also introduce new features that come with the operating system like Doze and App Standup, which are aimed at increasing battery life. App Permissions would help improve app security by letting users choose exactly what they wish to share with an app. The Marshmallow update would also introduce ‘Now on Tap’, which would provide contextual information.
