Redmi Pad 2 may be slower than original tablet, and why it would make total sense
HIGHLIGHTS

The device is being anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 680 chipset which compared to the previous model which was powered by Helio G99 SOC.

As for the camera setup the Redmi Pad 2 is expected to flaunt an 8 MP rear camera alongside a 5 MP front camera functionality.

The tablet is majorly anticipated to be powered by Android 13 out of the box, alongwith Xiaomi’s MIUI 14 interface

If you remember, the original Redmi Pad was first launched in October 2022 and is speculated to get a successor later this year, called the Redmi Pad 2.

There have been reports of Redmi working on a tablet based on the ECC certificate model number 23073RPBFG. The device has been anticipated to be Redmi Pad 2 according to several tipsters.

The leaks have been put out by Kacper Skrzypek on his Twitter account regarding the details of the Redmi Pad 2. The device is being anticipated to operate by the Snapdragon 680 chipset which, compared to the previous model which was powered by Helio G99 SOC, might be a shade slower.

Everyone on the internet has been questioning this move by Xiaomi. The Helio G99 is comparatively a more powerful GPU and provides 16% better performance than that of Snapdragon 680 which is estimated to perform 35% better on the AnTuTu benchmarks.

Of course, this expected slower performing chip on the upcoming Redmi Pad 2 might be a tactic to sell it a lesser price, at which point one can understand Xiaomi’s decision – but that still remains to be seen.

There might be a lower pricing range determined for the device for this model compared to the pioneering Redmi Pad of last year. The change of the processor rather than a downgrade sends out a message that the device will be overall impacted by this change from Helio G99 to Snapdragon 680 and would not necessarily perform up to the mark. Hence, the pricing for the device can be an interesting thing to look forward to.
