Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a National Agricultural Market portal to connect markets or mandis from different states via an online trading platform. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “In the evening will launch e-trading platform for the National Agriculture Market. 21 mandis from 8 States will join the platform today.”

In a report by the Times of India, the Agriculture Minister, Radha Mohan Singh said yesterday that the National Agriculture Market (NAM) proposes to integrate 585 regulated wholesale market or agricultural produce market committees (APMCs) under a single electronic platform. He added that this would ensure that farmers get competitive returns, while consumers get stable prices and steady availability. Initially, 12 commodities will be traded on the e-platform and not on the physical market. States selected for the pilot project include Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
