Pinterest introduces weekly newsletter

Updated on 05-Jun-2012

Pinterest users generally have to look out for interesting content themselves, but now a new feature will let them drive to even more personalised content. The social networking site has started its own weekly newsletter, making it easier for users to explore interesting pins. With the weekly newsletter, Pinterest users can also monitor how their pins are doing.

Pinterest’s weekly newsletter is inspired by the website’s pin board style, each pin or board in the letter is linked to the website. Users, however, cannot re-pin or like a post directly from the newsletter. The newsletter also features popular boards, pins from friends and popular pins of the week.

Pinterest has also added its own favourite pin in the newsletter, which this week was lip-dub marriage proposal that has already gone viral on YouTube.

Last month, Pinterest partnered with Flickr to make sure images posted from the popular photo-sharing site are always properly attributed. You can now find a Pinterest button in the Flickr share menu to easily pin everything that you can share via Flickr, including photo pages, favorites, and groups.

Few weeks ago, Twitter also started its own weekly e-mail digest. Twitter’s e-mail digest are pretty same as they are under the Discover tab on the website – that has a headline, summary and then followed by a row of thumbnail images of the tweeter. To read the story, users need to click the headline.

Through the newsletter, users can also see related tweets from the people they are following. Users can directly tweet a post from e-mail digest.
