Oppo partners with Google, Microsoft, and more for 100 new GenAI features

All the major tech companies, across the globe, are putting all of their energy and resources into upscaling their own AI models. The newest tech giant to jump on board is Oppo. It recently shared its own future plans to integrate AI innovations into its product lineup. For this, Oppo has set up an AI Centre in Shenzhen.
The smartphone maker announced that by the end of 2024, several of its smartphones will pack AI features. That too across various price points. It aims to have more than 100 GenAI features, which will include both new and existing AI features. For this, it has even filed over 5,399 AI patents globally, with 3,796 specifically in AI imaging. The main spaces of focus are going to be image processing, computer vision, speech technology, natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning.

A Collaborative Effort of Oppo
To improve its Gen AI features, Oppo is also planning on shaking hands with industry leaders like Google, Microsoft, Mediatek, and Qualcomm.
The collaboration with Microsoft can ensure an enhanced natural voice and text conversion experiences for Oppo. It can use Microsoft’s Transcription and Neural TTS technologies for this. Further, the partnership also aims to make it easier for users to use desktop AI and mobile AI. Oppo smartphone users will be able to use the desktop version of Copilot for content generation, text translation, and address searches via a connected PC.
As far as Mediatek is concerned, they are collaborating to develop new chipsets featuring dedicated AI processing units. Google’s Gemini LLM can power AI features in its flagship devices.
Let’s wait and see how these partnerships face out and how Oppo plans on releasing them in the future. But from what it seems, the wait isn’t going to be too long.
