OpenAI strikes deal to integrate Reddit posts into ChatGPT: Here’s how this collab will benefit users

OpenAI has partnered with Reddit to bring Reddit content to ChatGPT and new products. This will enable OpenAI’s AI tools to better understand and showcase Reddit content, especially on recent topics.

This partnership is said to benefit both the Reddit and OpenAI user communities in a number of ways:

• OpenAI is teaming up with Reddit to integrate Reddit content into ChatGPT and other OpenAI products, making it easier for users to discover and engage with Reddit communities. By accessing Reddit’s Data API, OpenAI will have access to real-time, structured, and diverse content from Reddit. This will enable OpenAI’s AI tools to understand and showcase recent topics from the platform.
• This collaboration will also allow Reddit to introduce new AI-powered features for users and moderators. Reddit will be building on OpenAI’s platform of AI models to bring its powerful vision to life.
• Lastly, OpenAI will become a Reddit advertising partner.

Reddit revealed that this partnership is consistent with other content arrangements, and does not change Reddit’s Data API Terms or Developer Terms, which state content accessed through Reddit’s Data API cannot be used for commercial purposes without Reddit’s approval. API access remains free for non-commercial usage under our published threshold.
