OpenAI expands Operator AI Agent to multiple countries, including India: All you need to know

OpenAI’s Operator AI agent now available in India, Brazil, Canada, and other countries.
Users need a $200/month ChatGPT Pro subscription to access Operator’s capabilities.
Operator can handle tasks like shopping, booking, and creating memes with user control available.
OpenAI has expanded its AI agent, Operator, to several countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the UK. The San-Francisco-based tech startup introduced the Operator in the US last month. However, the users will have to opt for the ChatGPT Pro subscription to use the Operator AI. Currently, the Operator is not available in the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, or Iceland.
For those who are unaware, OpenAI created the Operator, an AI agent that uses its own browser to carry out online tasks. By typing, clicking, and scrolling on websites, it can perform tasks like ordering groceries, filling out forms, and even making memes.
Operator uses a new model called Computer-Using Agent (CUA) to work with graphical user interfaces (GUIs) by combining sophisticated reasoning with the vision capabilities of GPT-4. As a result, it can carry out tasks on its own while still allowing users to take over when needed. For ChatGPT Pro users, Operator is currently in a research preview stage and is anticipated to grow in the future. Please be aware that in order to use ChatGPT, you will need to purchase a $200/month Pro plan.

OpenAI intends to expand Operator accessibility to all ChatGPT clients; however, the exact timeline for rollout and availability is unknown at this time. If this happens, OpenAI will be in direct competition with tech behemoths such as Google, Anthropic, and Rabbit, all of which are developing AI agents. Currently, the Google AI agent is on a waitlist, while Anthropic offers it via API and Rabbit provides action models to users.
To use Operator, describe the task you want to complete, and it will handle the rest. You can take control at any time, particularly for sensitive tasks such as logins or CAPTCHA. Personalize workflows with custom instructions and save prompts for quick access, allowing for multiple tasks such as shopping or booking.
