Nokia 6 starts receiving June Android security update in India
HIGHLIGHTS

Nokia 6 (2017) phones have started to receive the June Android Security update two days after Google made it available to Pixel and Nexus device. The installer package is about 148.3MB in size.

Two days after Google rolled out its June Android Security patch for Pixel and Nexus phones, the Nokia 6 (2017), which was launched in India last year, has started receiving the update. HMD Global has been totting regular and fast Android updates as the USP of Nokia phones.

Customers will either be prompted to download the update or they can check by going to Settings and then to the system updates sub menu. The Nokia 6 (2017) update is 148.3 MB in size.

According to Nokiapoweruser, the June Security update brings with it a fix for critical vulnerability in the media framework that could enable a remote attacker using a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code within the context of a privileged process.

HMD Global has been releasing monthly security updates and OS updates for Nokia smartphones. It has made it clear during its launch events that all Nokia Android phones will receive minimum two years of OS updates. The company also recently announced that all its current devices will be updated to Android P once the new OS rolls out.

Earlier this year, HMD Global rolled out the Android Oreo update for the Nokia 6 smartphone. The update was about 1659MB in size. Alongside Android Oreo, users also got a refreshed Settings UI, enhanced power savings and background activity manager. Further, the low-light imaging quality was also improved.
