Noida based startup fires 100 employees who reported work stress in survey
Noida startup faces criticism for firing 100 workers after a stress-related survey.
Employees terminated after admitting work stress in an internal survey, sparking outrage.
Social media reacts harshly to the company's alleged decision to fire stressed employees.
YesMadam, a salon home service start-up in Noida, is facing a lot of backlash after firing about 100 workers who voiced concerns about stress at work. Following the company’s internal survey, employees who acknowledged feeling stressed out at work were let go. The decision sparked an outrage online stating that the company has punished the employees for being honest about their mental health.
What exactly happened:
After the survey, a screenshot of an email from YesMadam’s HR department was shared on LinkedIn, getting a lot of attention. In an email, the HR manager gave an explanation of the company’s decision to terminate workers who admitted to feeling stressed. YesMadam’s human resources department allegedly stated in the email that the company was “committed to fostering a healthy and supportive work environment” and that it had decided to terminate employees who showed signs of high stress.
“Recently, we conducted a survey to understand your feelings about stress at work. Many of you shared your concerns, which we deeply value and respect. As a company committed to fostering a healthy and supportive work environment, we have carefully considered the feedback. To ensure that no one remains stressed at work, we have made the difficult decision to part ways with employees who indicated significant stress. This decision is effective immediately and impacted employees will receive further details separately. Thank you for your contributions,” the email reads.

The email’s authenticity could not be independently verified, but it quickly went viral. Social media users reacted quickly and harshly. According to a Times of India report, the All India Employee Association commented on the post, “People are taking unfair advantage nowadays due to system flaws. If you are unable to pay, do not hire. If you can’t guarantee a healthy work environment, don’t hire. Do not mentally harass employees.”
Even though YesMadam has not yet made an official statement, the incident is still igniting conversations on social media about how important it is to create a supportive workplace culture.
