The next gen VR controller from Valve will be smaller and will grip your hand so that you don't drop it.

Valve’s “Knuckles Cap Sense” VR Controller has been in the works for quite some time and now the company is finally shipping it out to select developers. The VR controller looks completely different from what Valve currently ships with the Vive headset. The big sensor hub at the top of the current gen Vive controller is now completely integrated inside in the dev Knuckles controller. The controller itself seems much smaller, with most buttons situated around the trackpad. The system button has now been moved below the trackpad and seems a little difficult to reach, show reduce the chanes of any accidental presses.

The main feature is the new way of implementing grip controls. The back of the handle of the controller will be tracking your fingers and will work much like a guitar neck. So, when your finger is curled, the controller will indicate that as ‘1’ and when your finger is straight, it will be counted as ‘0’. Now, this may seem like little overwhelming, but then again the current Vive VR controller is not easy to master either. The trigger is again below the trackpad and seems easily reachable by the index finger.

In addition of being smaller, the controller replaces the lanyard with an extensible grip, which can be tightened or loosened according to the users hand. This would provide better grip over the controller while gaming, so that you dron’t drop the controller accidently in the middle of a fight.
