Frauds and scams are becoming common by the day. Each day we come across a new scam wherein fraudsters are trying to loot the innocent. We previously saw an electricity bill scam doing rounds and now another scam on similar lines has emerged. This time scammers are targeting IGL gas connection customers. If you are one of those, make sure that you read the whole thing.
The modus operandi for this scam too is sending fake messages to users. Scammers send fake messages to IGL users. In the messages, they claim that the user has an outstanding bill and if they don’t pay it on time, their connection will be cut. Along with the message, scammers also add a fake customer care number and/or payment link.

If the user contacts the customer care cell, scammers speak to the customer rudely and create panic. They ask them to quickly settle the bill if they don’t want to lose their gas connection. Customers often panic and click on the fake links provided by the scammers, and that’s how they end up losing their money.
Considering the severity of the issue, IGL also issues a warning in that regard. It said in a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), “Be alert for fraudulent calls and messages claiming to be from Indraprastha Gas Limited. These scams often request you to download an app or click on links for bill payments, sometimes threatening service disconnection.”
So, that’s how you identify the scam text and can save yourself from getting scammed. Stay careful and vigilant at all times.
