New Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 brings DeX integration, aims to take on the iPad Pro
The new Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 will go on sale from August 10 in the US and will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC.
If you are one that is interested in picking up an Android tablet, then there is good news for you. Samsung has announced the launch of the Galaxy Tab S4. The tablet will go on sale from August 10 in the US. There is no information available on when the device will launch in India. The Wi-Fi only variant of the tablet comes in two variants – 64GB and 256GB priced at $649.99 and $749.99 respectively. A cellular version will also be available in the US.
Coming to the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, the device boasts of a10.5-inch Super AMOLED 16: 10 display with a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution. Under the hood the tablet is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835SoC coupled with 4GB RAM. As mentioned above, it will be available in two storage options – 64GB and 256GB expandable up to 400GB via a microSD card. The tablet runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and a 7300mAh battery powers the entire package. The tablet also comes with the S-Pen, an accessory which is the hallmark of Samsung’s Note series. Speaking of Note series, Samsung will announce the Note 9 at an event in New York on August 9.
Samsung will also sell an official keyboard dock for the Tab S4. Connecting the tablet to the keyboard dock will automatically activate Samsung DeX. In DeX mode, users will have the ability to have multiple apps open on the tablet simultaneously in desktop style windows and will be able to drag content from one window to the other. This is the same experience you get when you connect your Samsung galaxy S9 to a separate monitor. The ability to multitask on a device like the iPad is tough and if Samsung DeX works well on the Tab S4, then it could have an upper hand on the iPad as far as productivity is concerned. We will however hold off on that verdict till we get the device for review.
