If you thought that the New iPad was too good to be true, we’d say you suspicions were about right. Reports all over the Internet say that Apple’s New iPad is suffering from overheating. The reports suggest that the temperature of the New iPad touches 116 degrees Fahrenheit (47 Celsius) after 45 minutes of use. That’s 13 degrees Fahrenheit hotter than the iPad 2.
Apple isn’t one that responds to reports but this time the company was quick in this situation and responded to the overheating issue by saying, “The new iPad delivers a stunning Retina display, A5X chip, support for 4G LTE plus 10 hours of battery life, all while operating well within our thermal specifications. If customers have any concerns they should contact AppleCare.”
Using a thermal imaging camera the team at Consumer Reports recorded the temperature of the New iPad while the device was running Infinity Blade II. The game app was recently optimised to take advantage of the New iPad’s Retina Display that boasts of a resolution of 2048 x 1536. Apple also provided free cases for a short duration as putting the iPhone 4 in a case solved the issue to a certain degree. Keeping this perspective in mind, can we expect free cases for the New iPad?
