National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is bringing new FASTag rules from August 1, focusing more on KYC requirements for tags. These regulations are being implemented to improve the payments at toll and the current chaotic situations at toll plazas. If you own a FASTag, then this news can be important for you. Let me tell you about these new FASTag regulations.
The first step that you need to follow is that you need to complete your KYC updates if the FASTag was issued three to five years ago by October 31, 2024. Make sure that they are up-to-date too. And if your FASTag is older than five years, then make sure to get it replaced.
FASTag holders must ensure their KYC details are up-to-date to avoid service disruptions. Additionally, FASTags older than five years must be replaced to ensure toll payment reliability. Vehicle owners should verify their FASTag issuance dates and act promptly.
Here are some other steps that you need to follow:
You will have to link your FASTags with your vehicle’s registration and chassis numbers starting August 1st. And if you are a new vehicle owner then you must update registration within 90 days of purchase. Just make sure that the databases are accurate and current. Also, make sure that the FASTag is connected to your registered phone number.
Make sure that you do this on time, you have until October 31, 2024, to complete the same to avoid any hindrance in travel.
