Netflix provides three subscription plans currently – Basic, Standard and Premium. The Basic plan is the cheapest and costs $9.99 a month. In India, another more affordable plan than the Basic subscription is available, the Mobile plan, which costs Rs.149/month.
Netflix is launching a new ad-supported subscription plan similar to the Basic plan priced at $6.99. The new plan will be available in 12 countries – Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, the UK and the US. The users in the US can subscribe to the new plan from November 3. While in Canada and Mexico, the new plan will be available on November 1.
The Basic with Ads subscription offers similar features like content, personalized user experience, number of connected devices, and the ease of changing or canceling the plan at any time as the Basic plan. However, the OTT platform has decided to introduce an HD viewing experience for both the Basic with Ads and Basic plans starting in November. Moreover, the ad-supported plan will come with an average of 4 to 5 minutes of ads per hour, excluding movies and TV shows with licensing restrictions and no feature to download titles. Meanwhile, Netflix has not revealed any similar plans for its Indian users.
