HIGHLIGHTS

Lost in Space is a reboot of the 60’s show with the same name. The sci-fi series release on Netflix this April 13.

Most of us weren’t even born when CBS aired the original Lost In Space in 1965. Back then, 1997 was the future and the Robinson family of space adventurers were lost in the alien world of Priplanus for a good three seasons. The family-focussed sci-fi series is back, albeit, with a modern twist. A full trailer for the Netflix original has now been released and it definitely looks visually striking.

Interestingly, the premiere for Lost In Space has already been streamed for…wait for it…NASA astronauts currently in space. Now that’s some high-reaching marketing right there. After its visit to the ISS, Netflix has finally given us a glimpse into what the series has in store, including the iconic robot which has gone through some major transformations and looks nothing like the chunky old metalhead seen in the original.

As far as the storyline is concerned, Lost in Space 2018 will be set 30 years into the future, i.e, 2048. Space colonisation is a reality and the Robinson family has been picked to start a new life on a new planet. However, as the plot would have it, they never make it to their new home due to unforeseen circumstances and that’s where the space adventure begins.

The series casts stars Toby Stephens (Black Sails, Die Another Day) as John Robinson, and Molly Parker (House of Cards, Deadwood) as Maureen Robinson, the parents. As the Robinson kids, Taylor Russell (Falling Skies) as Judy, Mina Sundwall (Maggie’s Plan, Freeheld) is the middle-child Penny, and Max Jenkins (Sense8, Betrayal) is Will Robinson, the youngest. It is Will who goes on to form a bond with the sentient robot in the series.
