One of the biggest tech events all over the globe has just ended. I am talking about the MWC 2024 (Mobile World Congress). This year, we literally saw the future turning into reality. I have always seen transparent displays in sci-fi movies. However, Lenovo was successful in making one. Furthermore, we saw a bendable phone that can bend around your wrist, and we saw Xiaomi making a car and much more. Although there were very few new things at MWC 2024, and most of them are what we have already seen earlier. So, let’s check out these MWC 2024 highlights, six products from the event that I found quite interesting.
Motorola showcased its bendable concept phone with a flexible display again at MWC 2024. It can bend and wrap around the wrist, functioning as a smart band or smartwatch. It offers multiple stand modes, including a self-standing bipod configuration. Speaking of its display, it has a FHD+ 6.9-inch pOLED display. The concept also has generative AI features for personalised phone customisation and highlights the development of a MotoAI personal assistant.

Lenovo showcased a new ThinkBook at MWC 2024 with a proof-of-concept transparent display and keyboard. It has a 17.3-inch MicroLED display that offers up to 55% transparency and 1,000 nits brightness. The laptop also features AI for object recognition, enabling interaction with physical objects. The transparent screen seamlessly integrates with its surroundings when displaying videos or dynamic images.
Tecno unveiled a phone with a rollable display at MWC 2024, named the Phantom Ultimate. It features a 6.55-inch OLED display that expands horizontally to 7.11-inch. You can expand the display by just pressing a button. When not in use, it serves as a secondary display for time and notifications. Tecno did not reveal much about its concept. However, it suggests potential for rollable devices in the future, just like foldable devices.
Samsung revealed the prototype of its upcoming smart ring, the Samsung Galaxy Ring, at MWC 2024. It’s expected to compete with existing smart rings from brands like Boat and Noise. The Galaxy Ring boasts three color options (Silver, Gold, Black) and nine sizes (5 to 13). Furthermore, it weighs between 2.3 to 2.9 grams. It introduces a health scoring system called My Vitality Score and may include health and wellness features.

Xiaomi unveiled its first electric vehicle, the Xiaomi SU7, at MWC 2024. It is positioned as a competitor to Tesla and features the HyperEngine V8s E-Motor. The car features the Xiaomi HyperOS for Smart Cabin integration with a 16.1-inch central console, a 56-inch HUD head-up display, and a 7.1-inch rotating dashboard. The CTB Integrated Battery Technology achieves a 77.8% efficiency and a theoretical CLTC recharge range of 1200 km. Additionally, Adaptive BEV Technology for autonomous driving enhances visibility and precision.
Tecno showcased its robotic dog, the Dynamic 1, at MWC 2024. Interestingly, it is inspired by a German shepherd, it can climb stairs, bow, and shake hands. The dog responds to voice commands via four microphones, sensors, and an advanced AI-based voice recognition algorithm. You can control it through voice, a smartphone app, or a remote. It exhibits stability, post-fall recovery, and impressive speeds. It is packed with a 1,500mAh battery, that offers 90 minutes of battery life.
