Anime is essentially Japanese animation that has a unique and interesting style. Some Anime films have even transcended the genre and are now staples in modern pop culture. Akira

Akira is responsible for a lot of young children getting into Anime at an early age. The film was one of the most important landmarks in animation in Japan and with the help of the original Manga, it cemented its place as the must-watch Anime film of its generation. The story of telekinetic power gone horribly wrong, Akira is a must-watch even if you’re not a fan of Anime simply because of how good it actually is. 

Ninja Scroll

Violent, action-packed and visually arresting, Ninja Scroll shows us how far animation in Japan had come in the ’90s. Released in 1993, the film still stands the test of time as every frame is rendered with the utmost precision. The Anime tells the story of a lone samurai called Jubei who has to take on the 8 devils of Kimon as they try to seize control of Japan. Full of great action and even better animation, Ninja Scroll is not to be missed.

Short Peace

Made up of a series of short films, Short Peace is a fantastic animated feature that takes the most unique styles of Anime and sticks it into one incredible film. The film features four different tales, each with their own animation style. The film begins with a magical sequence that prepares viewers for some of the most fluid animation styles you’ll see. 

Berserk: Egg of the King

Berserk is one of the most influential pieces of media in Japanese culture The Manga started back in the 80s and is still running to this day and this film is the adaptation of the first arc of the Manga. Berserk stands as its own story and is an incredibly influential anime with its larger than life characters and deep, affecting storylines. The animation is amazing and captures the kinetic action of the original Manga. If you consider yourself a fan of anime, you should not miss Berserk: Egg of the King.
