Must read Image graphic novels

Updated on 24-Apr-2020

Image comics have steadily been gaining ground on DC and Marvel. The company makes it a point to print creator-owned books which leads to a wide variety of graphic novels ranging from sci-fi to horror to even children’s books. They may not have the roster of Marvel’s The Avengers of DC’s Justice league but Image comics have come into their own in their 20-year history. So, if you’re looking for something stranger to read, check out these must-read Image graphic novels.

Prophet Volume 1: Remission

If you’re looking for something a little different from the norm, then you should definitely take a look at Prophet. Written by Brandon Graham and illustrated by Simon Roy, the book is unique and stands on its own as one of the better sci-fi epics today. The story follows a soldier called Prophet as he navigates a hostile alien world in search of his team. Beautifully detailed and drawn, Prophet is a graphic novel that is distinct and should be a part of your collection.

Invincible Compendium Volume 1

One of the few traditional superhero books in Image’s catalogue, Invincible starts off like any other superhero tale does but quickly turns into something that readers will not expect. Nuanced and emotional, Invincible is a book that changed Image’s fortunes, along with The Walking Dead, both written by Robert Kirkman. The book details the lives of Mark Grayson aka Invincible and his adventures on Earth, Space and beyond.

Deadly Class Volume 1: Reagan Youth

Now turned into a hit TV show, Deadly Class follows the lives of 5 young assassins as they make their way through the School of Deadly Arts. Navigating high-school can be tough but it’s even tougher when everyone around you is a trained killer. Written by Rick Remender and illustrated by Wesley Craig, the book is exciting, thrilling and a must-read for anyone interested in graphic novels.

Seven to Eternity Volume 1

A true fantasy book, Seven to Eternity is one of the newer books on the block. Written by Rick Remender and illustrated by Jerome Opena, the graphic novel tells the story of Adam Osidis and his mission to destroy the authoritarian rule of The Mud King. The story takes you on a winding journey of redemption, hope and loss in this beautifully written and illustrated graphic novel.
