Xiaomi is a known brand when it comes to smartphones, especially in Asia. The Chinese brand offers brilliant smartphones at affordable prices. However, it seems Xiaomi is trying to get its hands on the automobile industry too. Yes! you heard it right. And it is not just a basic automobile Xiaomi wants to try, it’s EV. The brand is reportedly planning to roll out a new lineup of its first EV cars, namely the SU7 series. Let’s know more about it.

About Xiaomi SU7 series

Recently, an MIIT filing stated three models of the alleged Xiaomi SU7 series. This includes the Xiaomi SU7, Xiaomi SU7 Pro, and Xiaomi SU7 Max. Pretty much like Xiaomi’s smartphones right? Anyway, in the latest development, a leaker known as Benzene on Weibo has posted a few pictures and key specifications of the upcoming Xiaomi EV lineup. Furthermore, it is expected to come with a maximum motor power of 495kW. You might get an option to choose between a 19-inch wheel and a 20-inch wheel. The car could have a 3-metre wheelbase.

Interestingly, it is also rumoured that Xiaomi’s EV could feature the Lidar sensor. Now, in smartphones, the Lidar helps in photography and mapping out the surroundings. How can it help a car? To answer this question, you will have to give us a little time, until the EV actually launches.

Xiaomi recently launched the ‘HyperOS’, which is based on Android 14 OS. Now, it is also rumoured that Xiaomi SU7 will be powered by the HyperOS. I mean what will an Android operating system do in a car? Well, let me tell you what it could do. The HyperOS is expected to become a medium to connect a user’s smartphone, smartwatch, electric car, smart home devices, and much more. Basically, Xiaomi wants to try what Apple has done with its OS, to make a “smart ecosystem”.

So that is all about the Xiaomi SU7 series that has been revealed. But, I’ll suggest that you don’t raise your hopes too much just yet because all this information is totally based on leaks and rumours.
