Microsoft to roll out Windows 10 in phases, anticipating big demand
HIGHLIGHTS

The reaction to the Windows 10 announcement has been overwhelming, says Microsoft.

Microsoft is going to roll out the Windows 10 update to users in phases, the company announced through a blog post on its Windows Blog. Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of Operating Systems, Terry Myerson wrote that the company is overwhelmed with the response it has received already about Windows 10. The post explains that Windows 10 will be rolled out first to Windows Insiders and the company will then start providing it to other users who have reserved their update, in waves.

Microsoft has also detailed the differences between the various versions of Windows 10 that it is going to offer. The company has published a guide that lists the features of each version of Windows 10, excluding both enterprise and consumer versions of Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 IoT.

Amongst these is the Windows 10 for education package, which is very similar to Windows 10 Enterprise, but doesn’t offer the Long Term Servicing Branch. The Home Edition for Windows 10 will be similar to previous version and comes with the features that a consumer version of Windows should have.

As you would already know, Windows 10 will be launched worldwide on July 29 and it will be available to users for free. Microsoft already has a technical preview of the operating system available for its Windows Insiders and the company has showcased a back to basics approach, but with additions, through the tech preview.

Microsoft has a lot riding on the new OS, since its Windows 8 platform wasn’t very well received by users. In addition, the company has been taking a more services oriented approach, which makes Windows much more important than before.
