Microsoft starts rolling out new Windows Live Hotmail Wave 4

Last month, Microsoft had introduced new look and features to their E-mail service, Windows Live Hotmail Wave 4. Microsoft has now started upgrading Hotmail users to the new version of their Web mail service. This update includes support for larger (upto an unbelieveable 10GB) attachments and new views for looking at attached photos and documents.

The company has started upgrading the service to the users one server cluster at a time – and assuming that it has hundreds of such clusters – it will take time for the new service to be available to all users. “If you don’t see these features today, please hold on just a little while longer – everybody will be upgraded this summer”, program manager Mike Schackwitz announced in a blog post on Tuesday.

The new Windows Live Hotmail Wave 4 will include the following enhancements:

  • Send files via SkyDrive upto 10 GB attachment size limit
  • Integrated Web Office Apps
  • Sweep feature
  • Better mobile experience, including Push
  • Conversation view
  • Active Views
  • Security improvements

The video below further explains the new features and eye candy enhancements in the new Hotmail Wave 4.
