Microsoft has finally announced the availability of the latest version of the Internet Explorer for Windows 7. The browser has been rolled-out after a rather lengthy development process. Microsoft hopes that IE10, with all the performance and security improvements, will be able to claw back lost ground to Google’s Chrome and Mozilla’s Firefox. Microsoft will start rolling out IE10 via Microsoft Update over the coming weeks. For the impatient ones, you can head to http://www.beautyoftheweb.in/ to download immediately.
IE10 was shipped with Windows 8 as the default browser back in October 2012, and has since been available in beta for Windows 7. Microsoft claims that Internet Explorer 10 offers a 20% increase in real world site performance over Internet Explorer 9. IE10 adds support for over 30 new modern Web standards beyond IE9, supposedly a 60% increase. These new supported standards in IE10 include many of the latest HTML5, CSS3, DOM, Web Performance, and Web Application specifications.
Microsoft still controls just more than 50% of the web browser marketshare globally, with Internet Explorer 9 and 10 across various Windows OSes till now. But, that is a far cry from the almost 100% market share it it had a few years back, something that was lost steadily to the ever-improving Google Chrome and the Mozilla Firefox. According to NetMarketShare’s figures released in January 2013, Windows 8 has just 2.3% market share globally. And that has restricted Internet Explorer 10 to a certain extent. The impact of the new browser, and if all those claims by Microsoft actually appeal to the consumers, will be seen in proper perspective now that the latest Internet Explorer is available to 700 million Windows 7 users.
