During this year’s Build event, Microsoft unveiled an upcoming feature for Microsoft Edge: real-time video translation. This AI-powered feature will enable users to watch content on platforms like YouTube and LinkedIn while simultaneously translating spoken dialogue via dubbing or subtitles.
With just a few clicks, you’ll be able to access a wider range of videos in various languages. Simply click on the translate icon, select the current and preferred language, and let AI handle the rest.

The real-time video translation feature will be released soon to popular video websites such as YouTube, LinkedIn, Reuters, CNBC News, Bloomberg, and more.

This upcoming AI feature will be available from English to German, Hindi, Italian, Russian and Spanish, and from Spanish and Korean to English, with additional languages and video websites coming in the future.
Microsoft has not revealed when exactly the real-time video translation feature will be launched.
It’s important to note that the translation will be performed entirely on your device, ensuring that no data from the video leaves your machine. This means that no segment of the video or audio content will ever be sent off or processed in the cloud.
Also, several factors can affect the accuracy of the translation, including background music, the number of speakers, and the source language. The company is continuously working to enhance the quality of translations. However, users should be aware that AI-generated content may still contain errors.
In my opinion, this feature represents a significant step forward in bridging linguistic barriers, offering users a more inclusive and immersive browsing experience. By harnessing the power of AI, Microsoft aims to make online content more accessible and enjoyable for people around the world, fostering greater connectivity and understanding across diverse cultures and languages.
