Microsoft is making its AI-powered Copilot even smarter by bringing OpenAI’s o1 reasoning model to all users—for free. You won’t need to pay for a monthly subscription to Copilot Pro or ChatGPT Plus to access it. Microsoft is offering this powerful upgrade for free to every Copilot user, making advanced AI tools more accessible than ever.

OpenAI’s o1 model is designed to handle complex questions more effectively. Microsoft is integrating it into Copilot through a feature called Think Deeper. With just a tap of the Think Deeper button inside Copilot, the AI will take around 30 seconds to analyse the question from multiple perspectives before delivering a well-structured response.

Microsoft first launched Think Deeper in October as part of Copilot Labs, a space for Copilot Pro users to test new AI features. Now, this powerful reasoning tool is available to everyone at no cost. It works similarly to ChatGPT Plus, providing step-by-step answers to help with things like:

  • Career planning: It can break down career changes into steps, including education paths, job-hunting strategies, and industry trends.
  • Project planning: You can outline a big project, and Think Deeper will generate a structured plan, whether it’s a fitness goal, a work deadline, or a road trip.
  • Learning new topics: From historical events to scientific concepts, Think Deeper can provide detailed explanations to help you dive into any subject.
