Microsoft 365 is witnessing yet another outage leaving users across the globe facing disruptions in using platforms like Outlook and OneDrive. Not only that, the reports are claiming that users are also facing issues in using Microsoft Teams. The company has stated that it is investigating the root cause of the possible outage.

{Update: Microsoft 365 is back. Microsoft has issued an statement saying, “We’ve confirmed after a period of monitoring that the issue is now resolved. For more information, please refer to OO953223 in the admin center.”}

More than 1,000 users have complained about Microsoft 365 outages, affecting various services like Outlook and OneDrive, according to Downdetector. Some users are seeing a message stating, “We’re experiencing a service outage. We have saved all of your open files. When using the service, you might see the message It might take some time before the outage is fixed.”

Microsoft posted a statement on X stating, “We’re looking into a problem where some users might not be able to access Microsoft 365 apps for the web. In order to identify the underlying cause and create a remediation strategy, we are examining service monitoring telemetry. Please see OO953223 in the admin center for further details.”

Outage reports began to appear on Downdetector at 2:34 PM, and they peaked at approximately 6:19 PM. According to the reports, there are also disruptions occurring in Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft has reportedly advised users to access Microsoft 365 apps and documents via the desktop application, as the outage has affected specific parts and users. Interestingly, Microsoft’s service status, service health status, and Microsoft 365 network health status pages show no issues affecting the admin center, implying we will have to wait a few hours to determine the exact cause.

In the last two weeks, Microsoft 365 has experienced two outages. Users of Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Purview, Copilot, and Outlook were previously impacted by a significant outage. After more than twenty-four hours, the issue was fixed, and the company reported that it was “addressing lingering issues with Outlook on the web” and “investigating mail queuing delays causing longer delivery times.” Another significant outage that disrupted the Azure and Microsoft 365 services occurred back in July. A distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack was later attributed to it.
