Micromax to launch 10.1-inch ICS-based Funbook Pro tablet

Micromax is soon going to launch a 10.1-inch tablet called Funbook Pro, running on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The company has currently listed the device as ‘coming soon’ on its website.

Micromax earlier forayed into the tablet market with the Funbook, which featured a lot of educational and entertainment content, aimed at the students / youth of the country. The forthcoming Micromax Funbook Pro is likely to target the same class of consumers, as the tablet is being touted as “edutainment’ device.

Speaking about the specifications, the 10.1-inch Micromax Funbook Pro runs on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich and is powered by a Cortex A8 1.2GHz processor. The tablet has a capacitive touchscreen with 1024×600 pixels resolution. The device also supports HD video and has a HDMI port v1.4.

The tablet also features a VGA front-facing camera, 8GB built-in storage, microSD card slot that supports storage up to 32 GB and Wi-Fi. Like the original Funbook, the tablet comes preloaded with various apps such as YouTube, Text Editor, Adobe PDF, Flash and more. To know more about the device, click here.

Micromax has not yet revealed the pricing of the device but is likely to be a budget device.

Micromax made a strong entry into the budget tablet segment with the Funbook, and would like to repeat the same with the larger, more expensive Funbook Pro.
