MG Hector India prices announced, “the internet car” starts at Rs 12,18,000
MG Hector's price has been announced.
The Hector starts at Rs 12,18,000.
The new model is available in four trims.
After weeks of being in the process of entering the Indian car market, the MG Hector has finally received a price tag. The SUV gets a starting price of Rs 12,18,000 (ex-showroom). The news of the price announcement comes in the form of a tweet from MG India Support. In addition, MG Motor held a price announcement event at its flagship showroom in Gurgaon. The Hector will be sold in four variants namely Style, Super, Smart, and Sharp. The top-of-the-line variant of the SUV touches Rs 17 lakh.
The MG Hector gets a wide selection of powertrain options. On offer are a 1.5-litre petrol motor, which is mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or an automatic six-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a 2.0-litre diesel engine, which is mated only to a six-speed manual gearbox. In addition, the petrol motor variant is sold with the option of a 48V mild-hybrid system that provides up to 20Nm of extra torque at low speeds to minimise the effect of turbo lag.
The MG Hector is perhaps best known in the market right now for its iSMART connectivity solution, which comes with a host of global and India-specific internet-based features. Powering it is an embedded machine-to-machine SIM card with a data plan. The car is capable of responding to voice commands. For example, the user could ask for the car’s windows to be rolled up through voice. Saying “Hello, MG” triggers the inbuilt voice assistant.

Branded and sold as “the internet car”, the MG Hector is also capable of being remotely controlled using the user’s smartphone. The user need only download a proprietary smartphone app to enable and disable certain features of the car remotely. Complementing the iSMART solution is a large touchscreen display that supports some third-party apps such as Gaana (for music) and TomTom (for navigation). Pre-bookings for the MG Hector are currently underway. MG Motor also offers the option of an e-booking on its website.
