The Apple event took place last night and the iPhone 16 series was unveiled over there. But I am not here to talk about that. What caught my attention during the event was a familiar face. An Indian presenter was spotted during the livestream. Piyush Pratik was introducing the new Camera Control feature of the iPhone 16 series. Who is he and how did he end up at Apple? Let’s find out.
Who is Piyush Pratik?
As are most Indian engineers in Silicon Park, Piyush Pratik is an alumnus of IIT Delhi. He is currently working as the Product Manager for iPhone at Apple. He rose to fame after last night’s event and for his contributions to the event and the new iPhone lineup.
Pratik’s journey to Apple started right here in Delhi’s IIT. He pursued a dual degree in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology from IIT Delhi. After his graduation, he started working at Bain & Company as an associate consultant. He then switched to InMobi in 2013, where he quickly became the Global Lead for Product Marketing and later the Director. After that, he pursued an MBA from Stanford Business School. He had earned the prestigious Reliance Dhirubhai Scholarship. He covered his full school fee with it.
Once his MBA was complete, he joined Apple as a Product Manager. Here, he plays a crucial role in defining iPhone hardware and software features. He collaborates closely with teams from engineering, design, operations, finance, PR, and marketing throughout the product development cycle. His prior contributions include leading product management for the iPhone 13 series and the iPhone SE (2nd generation).
During the Glowtime event, Pratik introduced the iPhone 16’s new Camera Control feature. The iPhone 16 series now includes a dedicated Camera Control button, with which you can quickly adjust settings like exposure, zoom, camera mode, and filters.
