In an interview, OpenAI's chief technology officer Mira Murati said that while AI will take some creative jobs, some of them shouldn’t have existed in the first place.

There is no denying that artificial intelligence is transforming the way companies and organisations work.

It has inspired many work places to implement new tools and re-skill their employees.

The rise of artificial intelligence has given us some truly amazing moments in the last couple of years. The excitement has also led to some shocking statements from top company executives. These statements are at times arrogant and lack empathy towards working professionals who are facing the heat of AI-driven advancements. The latest to make the list is OpenAI’s chief technology officer Mira Murati and her take on AI replacing creative jobs.

Murati, in a recent interview at The Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth University last month, said that while AI will take some creative jobs, some of them shouldn’t have existed in the first place. “Some creative jobs maybe will go away. But maybe they shouldn’t have been there in the first place — you know, if the content that comes out of it is not very high quality,” she said, sounding both arrogant and delusional about the nature of jobs she was talking about.

There is no denying that artificial intelligence is transforming the way companies and organisations work. It has inspired many work places to implement new tools and re-skill their employees. It is also a constant threat to the jobs, or at least their current nature. But, to believe that AI can replace creative professionals and giving a cold statement towards them, wasn’t probably needed.

“I’m not an economist, but I certainly anticipate that a lot of jobs will change. Some jobs will be lost, some jobs will be gained,” Murati, said while predicting a future where AI will automate repetitive jobs and tasks.

It’s true that AI tools these days can create images, edit videos, write songs, news articles and more. All these things earlier required highly skilled professionals. And, while the tools are getting incredibly good, the quality of their output is still debatable.

Earlier this year, Elon Musk had also suggested that we are on the biggest technology revolution. He said that AI will claim all jobs from humans in the near future. “Probably none of us will have a job,” stated Musk in an interview.
