As our dependence on the internet keeps on increasing, so do the scams that are happening around us. A lot of people now engage in online shopping via different formats, and almost every day we come across a new fraud. This time e-commerce brand Flipkart is under the radar. What happened? Let’s find out.
Abhishek Bhatnagar, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the ordeal that his friend Nikhil had to go through for a product that he ordered via Flipkart. As per Bhatnagar’s X post, Nikhil ordered a Sonos speaker worth Rs 30,000 via Flipkart. When he received the parcel, to his surprise, the Sonos speaker was not there. Instead, it was replaced with a Mi Bluetooth speaker that cost only Rs2,400.
They had to call out the company on the social media platform as despite multiple follow-ups and complaints, Flipkart reportedly failed to resolve the issue. In his X post, Bhatnagar said, “It’s disheartening that even when a customer has clear proof of receiving the wrong or fake product, they still don’t bother to respond.” He went on to criticise the company by suggesting that “Flipkart should be renamed to Fraudkart.”
This post quickly went viral on the internet. A lot of people shared similar experiences that they had with Flipkart in the past. One user commented, “There’s a new Flipkart scam every time I open Twitter,” while another added, “E-commerce scams are at an all-time high right now.” A third user shared their frustration with a delayed replacement order and called Flipkart “big-time fraudsters”.
Many even raised the question as to why people continue to shop on Flipkart despite its low reputation. One user said that Flipkart is “the worst and biggest fraudster in the online shopping segment.”
