LinkedIn now has more than 20 million users in India; second only to the US
"City of LinkedIn India" has more than 20 million subscribers, including professionals, entrepreneurs and students.
LinkedIn’s subscriber base in India has gone past 20 million. The company says it has grown by 500 percent since it kicked off India operations in November 2009. The professional networking service had hit 10 million users in the country in June 2011.
India’s 20 million subscribers account for about 9 percent of LinkedIn’s global subscriber base at 225 million. The U.S. continues to be top market for LinkedIn with a subscriber base of over 74 million.
Notably, within the Asia Pacific region which has more than 40 million members, India tops the list, followed by countries such as Australia (4 million), Indonesia (2 million), Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines (each 1 million).
Referring to India’s member base as “City of LinkedIn India”, the company says, “…it comprises professionals at various stages of their careers, entrepreneurs and students, connected by a common interest – becoming even more successful and productive in the professional lives”.
