LG G Pad Android tablet launch details revealed
LG has announced that the G Pad Android tablet will hit store shelves in South Korea next week and in more markets before the end of the year.
LG’s Android powered tablet, the G Pad will hit store shelves in South Korea on October 14. The device is priced at 5,50,000 WON ($510 approx. which translates to Rs. 32,000 approx.). The tablet will be launched in 30 countries spanning North America, Europe, Latin American, Asian, CIS and Africa before the end of 2013. There is no specific information available on when the tablet will be launched in India.
The LG G Pad was first unveiled at IFA 2013. In terms of specifications, the tablet has an 8.3-inch display with a 1920×1200 pixels resolution. LG claims that this is the first 8-inch tablet with a full HD display. Under the hood, the tablet has a Snapdragon 600 chipset with a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.7GHz coupled with an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The tablet also comes with 16GB built-in storage. The rear of the tablet has a 5MP camera and the front has a 1.3MP camera. The tablet runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and a 4600mAh battery powers the entire package.
The G Pad is 8.3mm thick making it thinner than the Nexus 7 second generation, which measures 8.65mm in thickness. At 338 grams, the weight of the tablet is however a bit more than the Nexus 7.
At IFA 2013, LG announced the QPair app that comes pre-loaded with the G Pad 8.3. The app allows you to connect any smartphone to the tablet. The app lets users sync messages, calls and even notes created by QMemo (an app available for free on the Play Store) on both the devices.
