Kobian introduces Android 4.0-based ‘Mercury mTab7’ tablet at Rs. 6,499
Kobian has introduced a new Android-based budget tablet in India, called Mercury mTab 7. Priced at Rs. 6,499, the Mercury mTab7 runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and is powered by a 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 processor.
The Mercury mTab7 also features 7-inch capacitive display, 0.3MP front facing camera, 512MB DDRM, 4GB internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports storage up to 32GB. For connectivity, the device supports 3G via dongle, HDMI, USB, and Wi-Fi.
“The price sensitive Indian market is always looking for low cost, feature rich tablets and here we introduce one in the sub 7k range. mTAB7 brings joy of tablet at low cost .The ultra-thin and light weight features allows one to carry mTAB7 easily anywhere and its sleek features allow it to comfortably land in your pockets. We are not preloading with applications as we believe that the customer has a wide array of choices and they can download and access Apps easily through the Wi-Fi support,” says Sushmita Das, Country Manager – India at Kobian Pte Ltd, in a release.
The budget tablet segment seems to be getting crowded day by day. We’ve already seen low-cost tablets from the likes of Zync, Micromax and Karbonn. With a price tag of Rs. 6,499, the mTab7’s nearest rival will be Micromax’s Funbook Infinity. Priced at Rs. 6,699, the Funbook Infinity features Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 Processor, dual camera – 2MP rear and 0.3MP front, and a large 4,000 mAh battery.
